Rusty

Rusty

Don Lee Rusty (High Meadow Royal Don x Soliloque Lisa) was the true boss of the farm, until his passing on December 24th, 2009 at the age of 30. He was with author Ellen Feld since the day he was born. He was everything from an English pleasure mount to a barrel racing fool. Rusty loved to pull a cart and was known to make his way through a busy town intersection, picking up hitchhikers along the way. The only problem was that he would get annoyed when asked to stop at a red light - he just didn't seem to understand why he had to stop in the middle of the road. Undoubtedly, his favorite pastime was trail riding where he loved to jump into a stream and splash away, making sure to soak his rider in the process. At 26, Rusty retired to enjoy the good life and was only occasionally ridden. Going for short, ten-minute bareback rides seemed to keep the old guy happy. At other times, he could be found strolling around the property, sans fences, to find the tall growing grass. He's the only horse ever allowed to roam free at Willow Bend Morgans.
